Garfield Park Conservatory
It’s a pretty awesome time to go to the Garfield Park Conservatory here in Chicago for vegans and non-vegans alike. Their spring flower show is in full force until May 10th, and all about the conservatory, edible things bloom with the spring. We saw bananas, pineapples, limes, agave (okay, no agave blooms), black pepper plant, and jasmine flowers. Every time we visit I find something new. Greg’s favorite thing was the lime tree leaves and the “sensitive” plant that retracts its little leaves as you touch it. The conservatory has free admission and is located at 300 N. Central Park Ave. — just steps off the Conservatory stop on the Green Line. This April marks its anniversary – 101 years old!

My kids loved the sensitive plant, more commonly known as a TickleMe Plant, that we got the TickleMe Plant Greenhouse Kit at the Garfield Observatory. Its kid’s favorite plant all over the world. If you can’t visit the conservatory I found a place on line where readers can visit http://www.ticklemeplant.com and see this amazing plant in action.
